Twice battling back from a one goal deficit, the surging Fishermen had to settle for a tie in the season opener last Thursday night. Within two minutes of the first whistle, the Fishermen were down a goal when Salem striker Jasmine Bryant placed one in the net. In a lackluster first half, highlighted by a free kick goal by Clare Pleuler, the Fishermen were kept in the game by the many saves of Gloucester Goalkeeper Laura Spellman but ended the half down 2-1. The second half saw a new team. The defense stepped up and shut down Salem for the rest of the game. The offense put on continual pressure but in the end were only able to score off a second free kick goal by Pleuler.
